After registering you will be asked to verify your email. Most of the app stays locked until you click the link in the verification email, so do this before trying to open a course or lesson.
If your school is listed in the dropdown, selecting it joins its roster and reporting right away. If it isn't listed, or you're a self-directed learner with no institutional affiliation, leave it as "None / not listed". You can change it any time under My profile > Profile > Home institution, for example if you transfer, or once an administrator adds your school. See Canvas Integration.
If the institution you selected uses student IDs to match grades, a Student ID field appears right after you pick it. It's always optional, leaving it blank just shows a reminder that you can add it later from your profile, it never blocks your registration. If the ID you enter is already registered to another account, your account is still created; visit your profile afterward to report the mismatch.
Enter your email and password on the Login page. As a student you land on the Courses
dashboard (/courses), showing every course you're enrolled in. If you clicked a link that required
signing in first (for example, a lesson link you opened while logged out), you're taken to that page
after you log in instead of your usual landing page.
Visiting the home page (/) while signed in sends you to the same place, so an old bookmark of the
home page still lands you correctly. Signed-out visitors to the home page see the public landing page
with a catalogue of open courses, never a login wall, see
Courses and Lessons for what a signed-out visitor can do.
Everyone starts as a student; there's nothing to sign up for, it simply means "no staff role." Only an administrator can grant Instructor or Administrator access; there is no self-service request button. If your role ever changes, it takes effect the next time you load a page.
There is no self-service account deletion. If you need your account removed, contact an administrator (see Contact Us).
