Some courses are graded through Canvas. For those, your LearnCoding account has to be linked to your Canvas identity so your results reach the right row in your instructor's Canvas gradebook.
This page covers the Canvas link only. For the whole picture, including courses that are not
run through Canvas, see Student Identity for Grading.
Open your profile, choose the Student identity tab, and fill in the Canvas connection card
with your Canvas student number. The sign-up form itself does not ask for a Canvas number, so this
profile page is the only place to connect it, whether you just registered or have had an account for
a while.
Your name must match your name on Canvas, because the match uses both your student number and
your name. If your name here differs, the link will not find you.
Your Canvas link is matched against your own institution's Canvas automatically. If LearnCoding
serves more than one institution, your account is only ever matched within your own institution's
records, never another institution's.
A Canvas link covers Canvas-graded courses only. It does not automatically cover a course that
is run some other way, and it cannot be copied into the Your student ID at each institution
card for you, because your Canvas number is stored scrambled and cannot be read back.
So if you are already Canvas-connected and a course still asks you for a student ID, that is
expected rather than a fault. Your profile only ever asks for what your current courses actually
need: a Canvas connection, a student ID per institution, both, or nothing at all when your
instructor's roster already matched you by your account email.
